KUALA LUMPUR: Former Pasir Salak Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman’s appeal against being suspended from UMNO was rejected.
UMNO Information Chief, Isham Jalil said, the decision came into effect today and the suspension is for six years.
In addition, Isham informed that the Arau Division UMNO was suspended for disciplinary reasons and a new chief administrator will be appointed.
“Tajuddin’s appeal was rejected and his suspension came into effect today. For disciplinary reasons as contained in the UMNO constitution.
“This part of Arau, we will appoint the Chief Administrator as soon as possible and they will be present as observers,” he said when met after the Supreme Working Council meeting at Menara Dato’ Onn, here, tonight.
Tajuddin was previously reported to have his membership suspended for two terms or six years, but he has submitted an appeal.
Meanwhile, UMNO Perlis previously confirmed that the UMNO Women’s Leader of Arau Division, Datin Seri Shamsiah Yasin, who is also the wife of the incumbent Arau parliamentary seat, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, has been suspended from membership.
Before that, Shahidan was also removed from the position of Perlis UMNO Relations Chairman and replaced by Datuk Seri Azlan Man.
In other developments, Isham also explained that tonight’s meeting only touched on the progress of the UMNO General Assembly (PAU) which began on January 11.
“We discuss PAU’s journey basically. There are 2,738 delegates, an increase of 182 delegates this time,” he explained.
He said that the meeting did not discuss the invitation to Pakatan Harapan (PH) to attend PAU. – MESSENGER
