Tunku Ismail offered the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium for the Malaya Tigers to use


JOHOR BAHRU: The owner of the football club, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim is ready to offer the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri as an alternative venue for the Harimau Malaya squad.

The Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ) said it was to enable the national team to play international level matches.

“After discussing with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh regarding the maintenance of the SNBJ (Bukit Jalil National Stadium) starting this March, I have met with the President of FAM (Datuk Hamidin Mohd. Amin) to share an ‘update’ and offer the Stadium Sultan Ibrahim to be used by Harimau Malaya while waiting for the SNBJ to be ready,” he said.

Tunku Ismail announced the offer in a tweet via his Twitter and Instagram last night.

Sultan Ibrahim Stadium located in Gelang Patah, Iskandar Puteri is JDT’s official stadium equipped with various facilities including using high technology.

The stadium, which was inaugurated on 22 February 2020 and cost RM200 million, can accommodate 40,000 spectators at a time.
