TPM from BN, GPS

KAJANG: The position of Deputy Prime Minister of the unity government will be filled by either a representative of Barisan Nasional (BN) or Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

However, the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, the matter has not been decided yet and requires further discussion.

“Since the Prime Minister is from Pakatan Harapan (PH), then his deputy is from another strong component which is BN or the Sabah and Sarawak block which is GPS.

“When I have decided later, I will let you know,” he said in a press conference at Sungai Long Golf & Country Club here today.

Earlier, the Tambun Member of Parliament finished taking the oath as the 10th Prime Minister at Istana Negara after getting the approval of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

The appointment ended the political turmoil that hit the country after the 15th General Election (GE15) after no coalition of political parties won with a simple majority.

Meanwhile, when asked if the court cluster will be given a position in the Cabinet, he needed time to discuss the matter.

“PH’s position is clear but since this is a unity government, we will discuss with others.

“For space for us to discuss,” he said.

In the same development, Anwar informed that the Parliament session will be held on December 19 next. – MESSENGER
