Tigers ‘resting’ under the houses of residents in Kampung Pagar Sasak

LIPIS: Residents in Pagar Sasak Village here are worried about their safety when a tiger was found under a resident’s house there.

A resident who saw a glimpse of the animal this afternoon immediately contacted the operations center (PGO) of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) in Pahang.

Deputy Director (Operations) of the state JBPM, Ismail Abdul Ghani said, his party received a report about the discovery of the tiger at about 5.39pm.

“A team of officers and members from the Kuala Lipis Fire and Rescue Station were directed to the scene of the incident for the purpose of initial monitoring as soon as information is obtained.

“We (the fire department) confirmed that the animal was a ‘Root Tiger’ and was believed to be ‘resting’ under a resident’s house in front of the National School (SK) Pagar Sasak, Lipis,” he said in a statement here today.

Ismail said that his side reported to the Department of Wildlife Protection and National Parks (Perhilitan) for further action to catch the animal. – MESSENGER
