CYBERJAYA: The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) explained that the termination of monthly and daily employee contracts was done in line with the development of the agency’s digitization phase.
The IRB announced in a statement that the decision not to employ contract officers was made since 2018 before it was decided to be fully implemented on January 1.
According to him, currently, the termination involves a total of 42 monthly contract officers and 998 daily contract officers.
“Nevertheless, the notification regarding the decision not to hire this contract officer has already been explained to the officers involved as early as the beginning of this year.
“It aims to give space and time to the affected officers to organize their careers in addition to looking for job opportunities in the open market,” he said.
The IRB explained that it is very aware and concerned about the situation experienced by contract officers who work hard at the agency, including getting jobs through joint programs organized with tax agent companies.
He said that the IRB was also involved in organizing the MYFutureJobs program implemented by the Social Security Organization (Sorkeso) for contract officers currently serving at the IRB.
“This program is one of the job search methods among contract officers who will end their service on December 31.
“As a result, this year, a total of 59 contract officers managed to find other jobs and have terminated their contracts with the IRB,” he said while commenting on the issue of the termination of contract officers at this agency which was spread on several media channels.
In the meantime, the IRB said that the action to not continue the contract officer’s service was not motivated by the personal interests of any party.
On the other hand, it is based on the desire to increase the operational efficiency of the agency in addition to ensuring that the country’s financial resources are optimized to avoid any waste.
“The IRB also wants to state that the revenue from direct national tax collection cannot be used solely for the purpose of extending the contract of these officers as claimed by some parties,” he said.
Commenting on the career management aspect, the IRB said that the offer of appointment to a permanent position to a higher level to contract officers is made based on the merit of qualifications and the suitability of the position.
“For the record, a total of 653 contract officers were appointed to permanent positions for the period from 2017 to 2022,” he said. – MESSENGER
