The police will take the statements of the parents of the missing children

GOMBAK: The police will record the statements of the parents of two brothers who died in the fire at Jalan Dewan Simpang Tiga Kampung Tanggut, here early this morning.

In the incident at 3.30 in the morning, Nur Syaza Alfisya Muhammad Faizan, 10, and her brother, Muhammad Al Qayyum Muhammad Faizan, 7, were found slumped in a room in their home.

Gombak District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Zainal Mohamed Mohamed said, their testimony is needed as part of the investigation process.

“The police will record their conversation in the near future,” he said.

In the incident, the victim’s parents were reportedly not at home when they went out to eat.

Earlier, the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) was reported to need to obtain a police report before determining whether the victim’s parents were negligent and caused the victim’s death in a fire at their home.

His minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, said his party was waiting for a full report on the fire to determine whether the parents of the victims had committed an offense under the Children’s Act 2001 (Act 611) due to negligence.

Section 31, Children Act 2001 (Act 611) outlines the abuse, neglect, abandonment and exposure of children.

Section 31(1)(a) states that it is an offense for any person who has the custody of a child, to abuse, neglect, abandon or expose the child in a manner likely to cause the child to suffer physical injury or emotions.- MESSENGER
