ALOR SETAR: Two men were arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today after being suspected of being involved in making false claims amounting to RM20.3 million, about seven years ago.

Sources informed, both of them are directors and owners of two different companies who are 51 and 52 years old respectively.

“The first arrest involving the company director was made at the Kedah MACC Office at about 1pm this afternoon. While the owner of the company was arrested at the rest and treatment (R&R) area of ​​Simpang Renggam, Johor at about 3pm this afternoon.

“Their arrest is to assist the investigation regarding the case of submitting false claims related to incentive payment for dairy cattle breeding under the initial project (EPP) 13 Dairy Cluster, Economic Transformation Plan (ETP) worth RM20.3 million,” he said.

According to a source, several companies are suspected of conspiring to submit false claims related to the incentive payment of the project to the Department of Veterinary Services in 2015 even though no supply was made.

He added, kBoth suspects will be remanded in the Alor Setar Court tomorrow morning to allow investigations to be carried out in accordance with Section 18, MACC Act 2009.

“Currently MACC is actively tracking witnesses and taking statements from individuals believed to be involved. The investigation is also continuing to track down other individuals who may be involved in the case,” he said. – MESSENGER
