Sri Pahang ‘borrows’ JDT’s aura

PETALING JAYA: A day after announcing the presence of defender Fadhli Shas, the Tok Gajah squad today confirmed three more Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) stars will strengthen their challenge next season.

Azrif Nasrulhaq, Izham Tarmizi Roslan and Syazwan Andik Ishak became Sri Pahang’s newest recruits, and became their backup to erase the bad episode of the 2022 season.

Sri Pahang closed the Super League campaign last season in seventh place, in addition to being eliminated by Terengganu FC in the preliminary round of the Malaysia Cup.

The presence of the four stars on loan from JDT will surely give relief to the legend of Singapore and the club, Fandi Ahmad who will guide Tok Gajah next season.

“The next recruit, Azrif Nasrulhaq who joined Sri Pahang also on loan for a season from JDT.

“This right back made a name for himself with PKNS FC and was one of the main pillars of the 2015 Selangor Malaysia Cup champion squad.

“After seven seasons with JDT, Azrif, who also had caps with the U-23 and senior national squads, chose to step out of his comfort zone and is ready to write a new script in his career,” wrote Sri Pahang.

Former national goalscorer, Izham who is also on loan for a season will further strengthen the team’s defence.

Izham, 31 years old, was brought in to strengthen the last defense and he is ready to compete for the number one position and fill the void left by Mamadou Samassa.

“The calmness and dexterity of the former Harimau Muda player who is also the 2011 SEA Games gold medalist in goal, is seen to be a useful charm for Sri Pahang,” wrote Tok Gajah.

Meanwhile, Syazwan Andik completed the process of strengthening the team’s defense and was also acquired on loan.

“This 26-year-old Harimau Muda product has been with JDT II since 2019 and will play on loan with Melaka United in the 2022 season.

Syazwan sees Sri Pahang as the best destination to return his performance to the best level and his presence is believed to give an additional sting in the left defensive position,” said the club. – ONLINE MESSENGER
