Shevon accepts Soon Huat’s marriage proposal ahead of the Malaysian Open

PETALING JAYA: The national professional mixed doubles badminton couple, Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai tied the knot during their holiday in the Maldives.

Soon Huat, 32 years old made the announcement through her social media page today after almost a year of planning to find a suitable destination and the perfect ring to propose to Shevon.

The player finally chose the Maldives and proposed to Shevon yesterday as the sun set on the island.

“12/27/2022, I gave you the biggest surprise of this holiday, leaving a wonderful and unforgettable memory in our relationship. Everything feels worth it when you agree while shedding tears of joy,” explained Soon Huat through a statement on social media a while ago.

Soon Huat previously played as a men’s singles player, paired with Shevon as a mixed doubles player in 2016 and announced their romantic relationship last year.

Soon Huat and Shevon will start the 2023 calendar by playing at the Malaysian Open next January 10 against the Taiwanese pair, Chang ko Chi and Lee Chih Chen in the first round.
