Ronaldo belongs to Al Nassr

RIYADH: Cristiano Ronaldo today signed a contract for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr through an agreement believed to be worth more than 200 million euros (RM945 million).

The 37-year-old signed a contract that will keep him until June 2025.

“I am lucky to have won everything I wanted in European football and feel now is the right time to share my experience in Asia.

“I can’t wait to join my new team-mates and together with them help the club achieve success,” said the former Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus star.

The Portugal captain will arrive in Saudi Arabia with a string of titles with Real, where he won four Champions League trophies, two La Ligas, two Spanish Cups and three Club World Cups.

Ronaldo, the owner of five Ballon d’Or titles also set a club record with 451 goals and more than 800 goals at senior level in total for club and country.

He played for Portugal in Qatar where he became the first player to score in five World Cups after converting a penalty in their Group H opener against Ghana.

Portugal, however, was eliminated in the quarter-finals after losing to Morocco.

Ronaldo said Qatar would probably be his last World Cup as he plans to retire at the age of 40.

“This is more than history in the making. This migration not only inspires our club but for us to achieve greater success and inspire the league, the country and the next generation,” said the club’s President, Musli Al Muammar.

Al Nassr has won nine Saudi Arabian league titles, the last in 2019.

Ronaldo is looking for a completely different experience after his contract was terminated by Manchester United last month. – AGENCIES
