PETALING JAYA: Bursa Malaysia opened slightly higher this morning driven by profit-taking activity after the market fell yesterday due to investors’ cautious sentiment following the results of the 15th General Election (GE15) which saw a government still failed to be formed so far.
At 9.05 this morning, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 1.34 points to 1,449.3 from 1,447.96 yesterday.
Meanwhile, as of 9am this morning, the ringgit opened slightly higher against the US dollar at 4.5745/5830 compared to yesterday’s close of 4.5770/5850.
The results of GE15 last Saturday saw Parliament hanged after no party could get a simple majority to form a government, further affecting the current performance of the stock market and the ringgit. – MESSENGER
