PETALING JAYA: The country’s professional badminton players now have the option to participate in a training session at the Academy of Badminton Malaysia (ABM), Bukit Kiara after the Malaysian Badminton Association has already proposed a proposal for all players involved.
The matter was explained through a media statement issued by BAM with players who are in the world’s top 50 only for singles events, as well as the world’s top 30 only for doubles events are eligible to participate in this joint training session, and they are allowed to bring their respective coaches with them.
BAM proposed two sessions for professional players to attend training with national players starting on Wednesday morning for singles and doubles players, and another session on Friday involving doubles players only.
“Joint training is very critical and important in the players’ training module, therefore BAM feels that this session will yield meaningful results for both parties for the good of the Malaysian team as a whole, especially the national squad and professional players.
“The session that will be held will help improve understanding between players and team officials when they represent the country in a team tournament,” explained BAM.
Currently, the national professional doubles squad mostly trains in Sri Petaling, while most of the national singles players train at Sports Affairs, Cheras.
However, professional players interested in this offer must confirm their attendance on Monday each week to facilitate the planning of training sessions
