PN Pahang has 18 portfolios

KUANTAN: Perikatan Nasional (PN) Pahang established 18 focus portfolios held by all 17 Members of the State Assembly (ADUN) of the coalition in this state.

Pahang PN chairman, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah said, the focus portfolio aims to shadow the work carried out by the state government’s Exco.

He said the establishment of the focus portfolio is a sign that Pahang PN is serious about being a constructive opposition in the state.

“The state government has a Menteri Besar and 10 Exco with 18 portfolios. We also lined up 18 portfolios that will be headed by an assemblyman.

“Except for the leader of the opposition (Cheka assemblyman, Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man) who will hold two portfolios, all 17 assemblymen have one portfolio.

“This is a sign that PN is serious about being a constructive opposition so that various matters brought up in and outside the assembly can be specifically coordinated where each assemblyman plays their respective role,” he said in a press conference at the Pahang PN Secretariat Office here today.

Through the focus portfolio introduced, Tuan Ibrahim will hold two portfolios namely Environment and Green Technology as well as Natural Resources, Energy and Water portfolios.

He was followed by Tanjung Lumpur assemblyman, Rosli Abdul Jabar who is also Pahang Pas Commissioner holding the Social Welfare, Women and Family Development portfolio.

Beserah assemblyman, Andansura Rabu holds the Investment, Industry portfolio while Lepar assemblyman, Mohd. Yazid Mohd. Yunus portfolio of Youth, Sports and Culture.

In the meantime, Saifuddin said, the Pahang PN also established the Pahang PN Secretariat led by Andansura.

“I hope the establishment of this secretariat can improve the performance of the Pahang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) in carrying out their trust, duties and responsibilities.

“For the areas we have not won either Parliament or DUN, we will appoint coordinators some of whom may be candidates who can win and may be new figures that we want to highlight.

“The aim is to ensure that service matters to the people continue as well as playing a role as a team together with the Pahang assemblyman and Member of Parliament in an effort to help the people,” he said. – MESSENGER
