PM cash prayers at the mosque was inaugurated 27 years ago

JOHOR BAHRU: Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today perform Friday prayers at the Kampung Melayu Majidee Mosque, here which he inaugurated 27 years ago.

Anwar reportedly officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the mosque on 21 April 1995 when he held the position of Deputy Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister who arrived at the mosque grounds at 12.30 in the afternoon had time to re-sign the mosque’s inauguration plaque.

Anwar who is also the Minister of Finance then joined more than 2,000 pilgrims including Johor Chief Minister, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and Member of Parliament for Johor Bahru, Akmal Nasrullah Mohd. Nasir to perform Friday prayers, in addition to being friendly with the public.

After performing Friday prayers, he who is also a Member of Parliament for Tambun spent time shaking hands with the pilgrims before returning to the national capital.

This is Anwar’s first visit to Johor since being sworn in as the 10th Prime Minister on November 24.
