KUANTAN: Pakatan Harapan (PH) Pahang agreed to give official support to Barisan Nasional (BN) to form the state government.
PH Pahang chairman, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the agreement was reached as a result of the meeting he chaired today.
He said the unanimous agreement was based on the total number of seats in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) won by BN (16) while PH (eight) which exceeded the simple majority.
“We hope that the new Pahang state government after the 15th General Election (GE15) can be formed to ensure that the administration of the state government runs smoothly for the benefit of the people,” he said in a statement here.
In the GE15 last Saturday, Perikatan Nasional (PN) Pahang won 17 state assembly seats and no party obtained a simple majority to form the state government.
Any party needs to win 22 state assembly seats to obtain a simple majority to form the state government.
Therefore, it depends on the negotiations carried out by the three parties concerned namely PN, BN and PH in forming the government. – MESSENGER
