PH-BN negotiations to form the Pahang government are positive – Ahmad Nizam

KUANTAN: Pakatan Harapan (PH) Pahang confirmed that it has started negotiations with Barisan Nasional (BN) Pahang to form the state government after no party obtained a simple majority in the 15th General Election (GE15), last Saturday.

Pahang PH Strategy Director, Ahmad Nizam Hamid said that the negotiations between the two parties were proceeding in a good-willed atmosphere.

According to him, the main focus is to form a coalition that is concerned and takes care of the problems of the people of this state in addition to driving rapid development.

“I can confirm that the outcome of the discussion was positive.

“We are discussing more towards the formation of a stable government that does not tend to continue with party agendas,” he said in a statement here today.

He was commenting on the statement of Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah that the coalition appointed PAS Deputy President, Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man to lead the negotiations to form the state government.

In the 15th General Election (GE15), the Pahang PN won seven Parliamentary seats and 17 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats.

However, Pahang is still in a state of limbo as Barisan Nasional (BN) won 16 DUN seats and Pakatan Harapan (PH) eight.

In the meantime, Ahmad Nizam also said that a joint statement from the leadership of BN and Pahang PH will follow in the near future. – MESSENGER
