PETALING JAYA: Youth Pakatan Harapan (PH) urged the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to take strict action against any party, including politicians, who upload or release content containing racial insults and religious sensitivities on social media.
Amanah Selangor Deputy Head of Youth, Farid El-Emin said, the act of issuing any statement whether in the form of a written or video can divide the harmony between races in this country.
“We are aware of the spread of several videos through social media lately and what we want is that this act should be stopped immediately.
“The act of uploading matters that touch religious and racial sensitivities is completely unacceptable in our pluralistic country,” he told reporters at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD) here today.
Earlier, a police report was made at approximately 11.30 this morning at the Dang Wangi Police Station today regarding racially charged statements and touching on religious sensitivities in social media.
Farid said that the act of uploading and issuing racist statements is seen as an attempt to foster hatred towards other races, thus causing unrest and division in the community.
“The effect of this action has created an atmosphere of disharmony, feelings of hatred, threatening the racial and religious harmony of Malaysians.
“Therefore, we urge these people to be investigated under Section 298A and Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act,” he said. MESSENGER
