KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) will agree with the decision to be made with the Barisan leadership National Coalition (BN) to create a new government for the stability and good of the country.
Its Deputy President, Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup said, PBRS and BN are always fighting for the need to restore stability to the country and cannot let this political turmoil drag on.
He said, that attitude is irresponsible to the people and the country.
“So Barisan Nasional had to make a decision to cooperate with one party so that a new government can be established and the government can continue to function.
“As a party that always puts the people first, PBRS will agree to the decision that will be made together by the BN leadership to create a new government for the stability and good of the country,” he said in a statement today.
Yesterday when called to appear before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, BN Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said, His Majesty ordered that BN support the formation of a unity government.
The move follows when no party won a simple majority to form the central government after GE15.
Yesterday, the UMNO MT meeting decided to support the unity government without involving the National Alliance (PN).
According to Arthur, the results of the 15th General Election (GE15) resulted in a hung Parliament where no party had enough of a majority to form a government.
He said that actually Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) as the parties that won the most seats created a joint government but they could not do so.
“The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has ordered that all parties form a unity government to resolve the current political crisis. But PN has stated they do not want to do that.
“Actually, PBRS together in BN made a Supreme Court decision on November 22 to be neutral and remain in opposition to respect the voter’s decision in GE15 which gave more seats to PH and PN.
“But they (PN and PH) have still failed to create a unity government together, he said.
In the meantime, Arthur appealed for solidarity in BN to be strengthened because now is not the right time to create conflict between component partners and the leadership.
“We can discuss, we can share opinions, but in the end we must unite again. The people expect us to once again save the country from this political crisis.
“Unintentionally, once again dacing was called to balance the political situation of the country,” he said. – MESSENGER
