PAU was only attended by the component party – Ahmad Maslan

KUANTAN: Members of the UMNO Supreme Working Council decided UMNO General Assembly (PAU) 2023 which will take place from 11 to 14 January will only be attended by its component parties.

Its Secretary General, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said, not only were other political parties not invited, but also foreign ambassadors.

He said that so far the decision involved was made to give space to UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) and its component parties including the six ‘Friends of BN’ to focus on internal party issues.

“We made the PAU decision this time only between the component parties. Want to resolve matters related to UMNO and BN only.

“Not only other parties, but even foreign ambassadors whom we previously invited, we did not invite. So far that is the decision,” he said in a press conference at the Kuantan City Council (MBK), here today.

He was present to give information about the country’s current issues to 1,309 UMNO leaders throughout the state.

Touching on the program, Ahmad told that the purpose of the program was to explain the current situation and the formation of the Unity Government.

“I hope that with the explanation given, all the leaders present will be able to understand the situation of the Unity Government in addition to reminding them to make preparations to face the PAU next week.

“In addition, programs like this will also be held in six other states that will face PRN (State Elections) at any time in the future.

“We hope that after this PAU, the whole machinery will be ready and will focus on facing the PRN,” he said.

However, he said, the members of the UMNO Supreme Working Council have not yet decided what form of cooperation will be carried out between other political parties in the Unity Government to deal with the PRN involved.

“We have worked together to form a government. The party’s cooperation to face the PRN has not been decided how it will look like. Each party will have its own meeting. We will focus on PRN after PAU.

“How to cooperate, there is no meeting yet. We’ll talk later. In terms of party leadership, there has not been a meeting between BN and other parties,” he said. – MESSENGER
