North Korea wants to produce more missiles this year

SEOUL: The year 2023 will witness North Korea increasingly aggressively bolstering nuclear weapons development as its leader, Kim Jong-un orders more production missile new intercontinental ballistics.

Speaking during a meeting of the Workers’ Party, Jong-un also ordered the mass production of tactical nuclear weapons to counter threats from the United States (US) and South Korea.

This is because Jong-un accused the two countries of forming an alliance to continue to block and alienate North Korea.

Despite the order issued, Pyongyang again launched a short-range missile test yesterday.

the missile glided as high as 100 kilometers and was able to fly for 400 kilometers before falling in the East Sea.

A North Korean military spokesman said the missile was launched from the Ryongsong area in Pyongyang at 2.50am local time.

The missile launch came days after Seoul deployed its fighter jets after five Pyongyang military jets invaded the country’s airspace.

In addition, Jong-un also stated that the country’s current supply of nuclear weapons is enough to put South Korea ‘on the radar’.

Analysts are of the view that the action is seen to create pressure on Washington and does not rule out the possibility that tensions on the Korean Peninsula could escalate again starting this year. – AFP
