PETALING JAYA: The chairman of the National Alliance (PN) challenged Anwar Ibrahim to submit the amount of support he has to justify the amount obtained to hold the office of the 10th Prime Minister.
On the other hand, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said, he is confident of getting a sufficient majority to become Prime Minister with the support of 115 members of parliament.
“At 10.30am on November 22, the PN Secretary General sent another letter of declaration from members of the Dewan Rakyat who gave their confidence in me to be appointed as Prime Minister, bringing the number of parliamentarians who supported me to 115.
“That is more than a simple majority of 112 people to allow me to be appointed as prime minister,” he said in a press conference here this afternoon.
However, according to him, the Istana Negara today released a statement that Anwar, who is said to have the support of the majority of Dewan Rakyat members, was appointed as prime minister.
“For the sake of the people’s confidence in Anwar’s legitimacy as Prime Minister, it is appropriate for him to prove that he has the support of the majority of members of the Dewan Rakyat,” he said. – MESSENGER
