MELAKA: The state government will ensure an increase in the level of cleanliness in line with Melaka’s desire to move towards a new grading as a sustainable state.
Chairman of the State Housing, Local Government and Environment Committee, Datuk Zaidi Attan said that efforts are being made to coordinate programs based on certain findings and indicators.
According to him, the new target is in addition to the recognition and success at the national level previously received such as happy state, sustainable state and livable state.
“The Malacca local authority (PBT) is also among the top 10 in the country. We want to further improve Malacca towards a sustainable state where this effort not only needs to be improved under the PBT, but needs to cross the border under other agencies.
“Among the areas given the main focus are tourist spots and main food courts. We expect (Melaka) to return to being a tourism state that receives the highest number of visitors in the country,” he said during a press conference at the Prize Presentation Ceremony of the State-Level Cleanliness and Beauty Competition here today.
A total of 21 categories were contested involving 21 sub-committee chairmen and a total of 283 entries were received. Among the competing categories are between villages, departments and schools.
In the meantime, regarding the proposed increase in the hygiene competition category, Zaidi said, his party will look at the need for the increase from various angles.
He said, this is because the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md. Ali also suggested that such competitions should be continued and improved. – MESSENGER
