PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Volleyball Association (MAVA) does not tolerate the violent behavior of a coach who went viral on social media today after he was spotted slapping two of his players in a tournament in Kota Tinggi, Johor.
The coach is believed to have acted in this way when guiding the Melaka team during the Under-14 Youth Volleyball Championship held on 16 December last.
The incident has attracted the attention of several parties including the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh and her ex, Datuk Seri Faizal Azumu, who condemned the action, while the Minister of Education, Fadhlina Sidek, tried to get more details of this contagious issue because it involved underage students.
Following that, MAVA decided to suspend the coach until the investigation is completed.
“MAVA has taken steps to establish an investigative body to investigate the incident immediately. MAVA will also be in contact with related parties and stakeholders.
“MAVA will absolutely not tolerate any use of rudeness on any party and is ready to take further action in accordance with the law and the MAVA constitution,” explained the parent body through a statement issued just now.
