MAVA, MoE decided the fate of Cikgu Hadee

MELAKA: The decision to suspend or not the coach of the women’s under-14 volleyball squad in Melaka, Saiful Hadee Amar, who slapped two of his players, will only be decided by the Malaysian Volleyball Association (MAVA) and the Ministry of Education (KPM) in the near future.

Chairman of the Melaka Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Development Committee, VP. Shanmugam said that the state government cannot intervene and hand over the decision to MAVA and the MoEF to investigate in detail the viral video clip related to the incident on December 16.

According to him, although the coach involved has apologized to both parents of the students involved, the incident that occurred during the Under-14 Youth Championship in Kota Tinggi, Johor was considered so serious that it became a national issue.

“The position of the 44-year-old coach is divided into three matters, namely an investigation by the state government, an investigation by the Ministry of Interior because he is still serving at the Ministry of Interior, their integrity unit will conduct further investigations.

“MAVA should have taken this case fully as the spread of the video has attracted the attention of all parties at the national level.

“Therefore, any action or punishment that will be taken now depends on the investigation by MAVA and the MoEF to make an appropriate decision,” he said in a press conference after chairing a special meeting related to the incident at the Melaka State Sports Council (MSNM) in Krubong here, this afternoon.

Shanmugam added that the results of the special meeting recommended that the coach make a public apology to the public and his parents and that his coaching certificate should be suspended for a period of one or two years.

He also requested that all parties not make any speculations because it affects both players who are currently preparing for another tournament.

“The parents of the two players involved have forgiven the coach, but the transmission of the video has offended them and asked all parties to stop it,” he explained. – MESSENGER
