Kelantan Police received 10,490 reports related to flooding

TUMPAT: Police received a total of 10,490 reports related to damage flood made by individuals involved throughout the period of the calamity that struck from 9 to 28 December last.

State Police Chief, Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said, of the total, 5,114 damages involved property, 4,215 involving houses, vehicles (619) and livestock (542).

“The districts where we received the most reports are Pasir Puteh (2,879), Bachok (2,132), Pasir Mas (1,812), Tumpat (1,425) and Kota Bharu (1,411).

“Therefore, for flood-affected residents who have not made a report to do so immediately to make it easier for them to make related arrangements to get compensation or the like,” he said at the PDRM Best Housing Management Award Ceremony at Wakaf Bharu Police Station, here today.

Muhamad Zaki said that more than 30,000 victims were displaced during the North East Monsoon (MTL) last December.

However, he said, the amount of losses suffered was not in the knowledge of the police because it was managed by the state disaster management. – MESSENGER
