SHAH ALAM: As predicted, singer Jaclyn Victor was crowned the winner of the ninth season of Gegar Vaganza (GV9), thus defeating five other competitors at the culminating event at the Shah Alam City Council Auditorium (MBSA), here, last night.
The win entitles Jaclyn, affectionately known as Jac, to take home RM100,000 in cash, a holiday package to Paris, sponsored accommodation at the Royal Chulan Cherating and a trophy.
At the highlight, Jac performed a medley of Celine Dion’s original It’s All Coming Back To Me Now and Keala Settle’s This Is Me.
For the rap task, Jac performed with VE through the song The Real Slim Shady (Eminem) and Sang Saka Biru (Joe Flizzow, Altimet, Sonaone and Alyph).
Meanwhile, Bob Yusof was announced as the runner-up, thus winning a cash prize of RM50,000, while Shila Amzah was satisfied in third place by receiving RM30,000.
Fourth place went to Tomok who received RM20,000, while VE ended their struggle in fifth place taking home RM15,000.
Despite giving fierce competition, singer from Singapore, Hazrul Nizam settled for sixth position and received RM10,000.
The final concert, which raised the theme of Sweetness at the End of the Line, required participants to complete two tasks, namely a medley song and a rap for the battle segment.
Jac won a double win when he took home RM5,000 as the recipient of the Next Level Digi Award.
The outspoken singer was also announced as the winner of the Bintang Memukau Abadi Award, and received RM2,000 in cash and RM500 worth of Adabi merchandise.
The Fastest Cuckoo Star Award goes to Bob Yusof.
GV9, which began airing on September 18, featured Nabil Ahmad and Elly Mazlein as hosts.
The final competition was judged by Datuk Ramli MS as the head of the jury, in addition to Hetty Koes Endang and Datuk Syafinaz Selamat as well as the guest judge, Edry Abdul Halim.
