Injured dolphin stranded in Mersing

MERSING: An injured dolphin was found stranded at Air Papan Beach, here today.

Mersing District Civil Defense Officer, Captain (PA) Nurnajibah Abdullah said, the fish was found at 8.48am after being noticed by the Coastal Rescue Tower Officer. Malaysian Civil Defense Force (APM) when placing a warning flag on the beach involved.

He said, the fish weighing 35 kilograms was found to have an injury on the tail.

“The APM Beach Rescue Tower staff found a dolphin on the coast when putting up a warning flag, which is about 800 meters from the tower.

“The staff tried to release the dolphin but failed due to high tide and strong waves. As a result, APM Mersing contacted the Fisheries Office for further action.
