TAIPING: “I can’t bear to watch the video accident my younger sibling.” That was said by the brother of Muhammad Amir Mohd Yusoff, 32, the man who died when a racing car lost control during the ‘CCT Battle of Champion’ race at Litar Dato’ Sagor Kampung Gajah, here yesterday.
Following this, the victim’s brother, who refused to be identified, hoped that the video of the accident involving his late brother would no longer be circulated after the footage of the accident involving two racing cars that collided and crashed before crashing into the victim, went viral on social media since yesterday.
“I can’t bear to watch that video, so stop spreading that video. I hope all parties take care of our feelings who lost a family member.
“My brother does not race, he is on the circuit during the race because he has work to do,” he said when met by reporters at his late brother’s home in Taman Taman Saujana Permai, Kamunting near here, yesterday.
According to him, his brother’s body was safely buried in Kamunting after the morning prayer.
Meanwhile, when met by reporters at the Changkat Melintang Hospital near Parit yesterday, the victim’s wife, Nor Idayu Yunus, 29, said that her husband was a car workshop operator and she did know him to Litar Dato’ Sagor.
She said her husband went to Litar Dato’ Sagor to meet a friend from Kuala Lumpur.
“Before now, my husband had told me that he wanted to go to Kampung Gajah to pick up car parts from his friend from Kuala Lumpur.
“It’s a routine for my husband to go to Kuala Lumpur to get car parts, so when his friend comes to Kampung Gajah, he doesn’t have to go far to get car parts.
“We knew there was a race there and my husband said he wanted to watch the race,” he said.
Nor Idayu said she found out about the accident from a work colleague of her husband who called her at 4pm yesterday.
She said, but when she and the children arrived at Changkat Melintang Hospital, the doctor confirmed that her husband had died.
“Should be tonight (last night), our family went out for a walk to celebrate the new year. It just so happened that I was on holiday and he could finish his work early,” he said.
Earlier, the police confirmed yesterday’s accident was caused by two cars losing control after rubbing each other.
Perak Police Chief, Datuk Seri Mohd. Yusri Hassan Basri said that the friction caused one of the cars to skid to the right of the track and hit one of the spectators who was on the grassy area 30 feet from the track.
He said the victim suffered serious injuries and was given immediate treatment by the medical team at the scene of the incident.
The victim was however confirmed dead at Changkat Melintang Hospital at 5pm.
According to him, the competition at the circuit started at 9 am involving 60 vehicles of various categories and the competition organizers rented the location of the motor sports race from the operating company that manages the venue. – MESSENGER
