Flood relief: Make a report again at the district office

SHAH ALAM: The state government is asking flood victims in Selangor last year who have not yet received flood aid from the federal and state governments to report back to their respective District and Land Offices (PDT).

Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said, this re-report is necessary to enable the state government to make a review regarding the aid application they made earlier.

“It is true that I have received many reports saying that there are many flood victims who have not received help (from the Federal and State Governments). However, a check should be made to ensure that they are really eligible for assistance.

“Any victims who do not receive assistance because they are not eligible, we will review the reasons,” he said in a press conference after attending the ‘Capacity Building’ event of Gerak Gempur SPM 2022 at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Midlands, today.

Utusan Malaysia yesterday reported more than 30 flood victims from Pangsapuri Jaya, here they still haven’t received home repair assistance worth RM5,000, as promised by the Federal Government before.

In fact, there are some residents in Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam who also claim that they do not get financial assistance from the Selangor government due to their status as house renters and not house owners.

Regarding the issue of Federal Government aid, Amirudin informed that the state government will contact the Central Government to find out the status of the aid recipient.

“The aid that the flood victims did not receive the most was repair aid. The chairman of the Selangor Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) has not yet been appointed although normally, the chairman of the ICU is the Menteri Besar.

“If the Chairman of ICU Selangor has been appointed, I am sure this issue can be dealt with comprehensively,” he explained. – MESSENGER
