Employer confirmation is required, one road will be opened along the Batang Kali route

AMPANG: Confirmation from the employer will be required to give permission for employees to commute to work for those passing through the road in the area of the incident Batang Kali landslide .

The matter was informed by the Selangor State Infrastructure and Agriculture Exco, Izham Hashim when he visited the Taman Bukit Permai landslide site here yesterday.

According to him, a road will be opened to allow workers from Selangor who commute to work in Genting Highland.

“Only those who work in genting can pass that road, no matter what their job is.

“So we have to get confirmation of the workers from the employer on the Genting Highland side to enable them to commute back and forth to work through it,” he said.

Although the situation in the area is still worrying, he said there will be a one-way road built to facilitate the movement of workers in Genting Highland for the time being

He added, at the same time, they will also look for a long-term solution to repair the cliff caused by the landslide.

Next, he informed that a large-scale road patching project that will cost Rm50 million will be implemented throughout the state of Selangor except federal roads.

The Pandan Indah State Assembly member announced that the implementation is targeted to start in March this year.

He also suggested that there be a proper method and solution to complete the federal road including the highway involved.

This is due to him seeing that there is no more emphasis on the issue of federal road maintenance and that there should be a special budget allocated for the road.

“So we need to cooperate with a better maintenance system to solve this problem,” he said.

Meanwhile, he informed the slope area involved in the landslide incident at Taman Bukit Permai 2 here is now in a stable condition.

A landslide incident in the area on March 10 last year claimed four lives and one person was slightly injured and involved 15 houses and 10 vehicles affected by the natural disaster.

He explained that the landslide incident in the area was caused by water retention and the heavy rains also contributed to the situation.

“Because this area is a dam area that was built in the 80s, the occurrence of the dam caused the flow system to not be made properly, so the water stagnated in it,” he said.

He said, the project to repair the collapsed slope area there has now reached 80 percent completion and is expected to be completely finished in March.

The project to repair the slope, which cost the contractor RM15 million, also involved the installation of drainage and also terracing.

Therefore, he said based on reports from the Public Works Department (JKR) and the Public Works Institute of Malaysia (IKRAM) confirmed that housing located on the edge of the slope where landslides occur is unsafe to live in.

He added that they will discuss the matter with the concerned residents immediately.

In fact, for 15 houses that were affected by landslides and four more houses that were damaged under the slope due to the effects of the landslides, he will bring the matter to be discussed for further action by the state government.

In the meantime, he said the highlands and slopes that are at risk of landslides, especially Gombak, Hulu Langat and Hulu Selangor need attention. – MESSENGER
