Development, mega projects should not be ignored by the people – Anwar

PUTRAJAYA: The paradigm shift concept needs to be given a new lease of life and ensure that it benefits the people instead of enriching only a few parties.

The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, the concept has been practiced in this country for a long time, but it is seen as unbalanced and leaves the people out.

He said, there is no point in developing mega projects and developments, but at the same time not looking at the plight of the people out there.

“Do we want to allow mega projects but at the time we don’t see the plight of the people out there.

“We develop the country with projects and industry but at the same time we do not give low wages to workers and do not deserve it,” he said when speaking at the New Year 2023 Munajat Program at the Putra Mosque, here tonight.

He said, the government wants to ensure that the job opportunities offered to the people are no longer seen as degrading dignity and moral values, but instead are done in a harmonious manner.

In the meantime, Anwar said, he was grateful that today’s Unity Government was able to guarantee a stable political atmosphere compared to before, which was struggling with endless confusion.

According to him, the focus of the Unity Government is now to increase all efforts including the people’s confidence in the government.

“Certainly early next year we will have a list of investors from various countries and they will come in person to see developments in Malaysia so that there is new growth to advance the country,” he said.

Meanwhile, Anwar said, he also wants the institution of the mosque to be improved and intensified and not be used as a arena for fighting and spreading hatred.

“Islam in this country remains upright as a federal religion and it is not only a message for Muslims, but rather for non-Muslims where we want that understanding to reduce the seeds of Islamophobia,” he said.

Earlier, Anwar along with 2,000 worshipers attended the 2022 New Year Prayer Program at the Putra Mosque, here which was also attended by a line-up of other ministers. – MESSENGER
