Dead cook: Male suspect has knowledge, interest in explosives

AMPANG: The male suspect in the case the cook’s murder at a restaurant in Pandan Indah here, last December 29 is believed to have knowledge related to explosives.

The 33-year-old suspect, who works as a contractor, is believed to have an interest and knowledge in the field of electricity and wiring so that he managed to produce explosives that were left on the 28-year-old victim’s car.

In fact, the results of the investigation found that the explosives were produced from the blade of a paper cutting knife and mosaic powder so that the victim was seriously injured in the body and hands.

Acting Selangor Police Chief, Datuk S. Sasikala Devi said, preliminary investigation found that the male suspect and his wife, the 30-year-old housewife were believed to be at the scene of the incident and the explosives were suspected to have been detonated using a remote control device.

He said that the two suspects also knew the victim because they came from the same village, Serdang, Kedah.

“So far the police have recorded the conversations of 36 witnesses to help the investigation.

“The motive behind the incident is believed to be personal. We also confiscated various case items including materials believed to be used to make explosives,” he said in a press conference at the Ampang District Police Headquarters here today.

He added that all the items in the case have been sent to the police chemical and forensic laboratory for analysis.

We are still interrogating the two suspects who were remanded for seven days until this Tuesday under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

“We believe the investigation papers will be completed in the near future,” he said.

In the incident at 8.55pm, the victim died when an explosion occurred while holding a package left on the bonnet of his Toyota Corolla Altis car.

Yesterday, the police arrested the suspect and his wife, who were 33 and 30 years old respectively, in a raid at a housing estate in Serdang, Kedah, at about 7.20pm.

The initial police investigation found that the male suspect suspected the victim of having a relationship with his wife when the cook in question lived in the north of the country.- UTESAN
