College students between four couples are caught apart

SUNGAI PETANI: The actions of a couple of students of a college did not go home for vacation at their respective homes in Alor Setar and Baling but instead rented a room to make love, which led to a scandal when they were caught cheating at a budget hotel, here early this morning.

The 22-year-old couple was arrested in Operation Bersepadu Ambang 2023 by the Kuala Muda District Religious Office (PADKM) from 12 midnight to 4 am.

Kuala Muda District Religious Officer, Mohd. Noor Ismardi Ismail said, the couple initially refused to open the door of their room in Bakar Arang, after noticing the presence of law enforcement officers.

“We had to use a duplicate key obtained from the hotel caretaker and as soon as the room door was opened it was found that the male claimant was covering himself with a sheet on the bed while his partner pretended to be sleeping on the floor.

“According to both of them, they rented the room just to make love and did not intend to return to their respective homes to spend the holidays with their families,” he said here today.

The raid was also joined by the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), the Sungai Petani Municipal Council (MPSPK), the Military Intelligence Unit and the Badar Squad.

According to Mohd. Noor, they also arrested three other couples between the ages of 22 and 24 with the first couple being arrested at a hotel in Padang Temusu, here.

“The 22-year-old couple from Bukit Mertajam, Penang gave the excuse of a short stopover to meet their friend who rented the room before going out to celebrate the new year’s eve in the middle of Sungai Petani town.

“However, their act of lying to PADKM staff was not successful after the raid team made a check and found that the occupied room was registered in the name of one of them,” he said.

Mohd. Noor said, in the next raid in Bandar Puteri Jaya, they arrested two more lovers, including one who was a military member on duty in Negeri Sembilan.

He said that all the couples involved were arrested under Section 25 of the Syariah Criminal Offenses Enactment 2014 for defamation and taken to the Kuala Muda District Police Headquarters (IPD) to complete the investigation process before their next of kin were contacted.. – MESSENGER
