Brother prevented sister from returning to Pakistan stabbed to death

SUNGAI PETANI: The act of a Pakistani man hiding a flight ticket to prevent his younger brother from returning to his home country ended in tragedy when he was beaten and stabbed to death by his younger brother in an incident at Taman Desa Meranti here, last Saturday.

In the incident at 9.57pm, the victim identified as Mukhtiar, 39, suffered injuries from being stabbed in the thigh in addition to bruises on the body.

He who was unconscious was then rushed to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) here for treatment before being pronounced dead at 10.37pm.

Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Zaidy Che Hassan said, the incident happened after an argument between the victim and his 34-year-old brother.

“The two brothers had an argument after Mukhtiar forbade his younger brother to return to Pakistan to meet his family in addition to hiding the flight ticket.

“The furious suspect acted out of control by beating and stabbing his brother until he was severely injured,” he said here today.

He said, neighbors who noticed the incident then contacted the police for further action.

“The unconscious victim was rushed to the hospital, while the suspect was arrested and confessed to stabbing his brother. Also found was a knife believed to have been used during the incident,” he said.

He added that the victim’s body was sent for post-mortem at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB), Alor Setar near here.

“The suspect was remanded for seven days until January 6 to assist in the investigation of the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he said. – MESSENGER
