BN assemblymen withdraw support for Hajiji

KOTA KINABALU: Members of the Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah State Legislative Assembly (ADUN) unanimously expressed their support for the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and the state government with immediate effect.

Sabah BN chairman, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin announced the matter after a meeting with Sabah assemblymen and UMNO leadership last night.

He said that the decision was made following Hajiji’s actions which were seen as violating the memorandum of understanding with BN following the Sabah Chief Minister’s decision to terminate the appointment of the BN assemblyman as the chairman of a government-related company (GLC).

In fact, he said, Hajiji threatened to reshuffle the state Cabinet without first consulting the Sabah BN leadership.

Today, the Chief Minister of Sabah acted to issue a letter terminating the appointment of Datuk Seri Salleh Tun Said as Chairman of Qhazanah Sabah Berhad.

“Our decision was unanimous, UMNO-BN withdrew and withdrew support for Hajiji as Chief Minister, we have lost faith.

“After Hajiji left Bersatu, we have discussed with several lawyers and the lawyers have informed us that Hajiji has lost local standing or is not qualified to be elected as Chief Minister of Sabah,” he said in a press conference after the meeting tonight.

Bung Moktar claimed that Hajiji is no longer the leader of a political party for the purposes of Clause 6(7) of the Sabah State Constitution when he has declared his exit from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), which is the party in the political memorandum of understanding.

According to him, with the withdrawal of the trust’s support, Hajiji Noor has lost his majority in the state assembly and is not qualified to be appointed to the position of Chief Minister.

According to Bung Moktar, BN is ready to work with any party that is sincere to work with them.

Asked if the act of withdrawing support caused the Sabah State Assembly to be dissolved, Bung Moktar left the matter to the wisdom of the Sabah State President to make a decision. – MESSENGER
