Bale wants Wales to rise up against England

DOHA: Wales star Gareth Bale said his team was in a sad state after losing 2-0 to Iran in the second match of Group B at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Defeat to Carlos Queroz’s side saw Wales’ hopes of reaching their first World Cup knockout stage in 64 years dealt a major blow.

The Dragons were down to ten men four minutes from time when goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey was shown a red card, before Iran scored twice in stoppage time through Rouzbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeian.

Wales are now on a must-win mission against England in their final group game on Tuesday if they want to improve their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages.

Bale, who may be playing in his first and last World Cup, said he was very sad after the game but wanted his team-mates to bounce back quickly for the tough games ahead.

“We are disappointed, there is no other way to say it. We fought until the last moment and we have to go again, it’s true that everyone is disappointed but, we have to get up quickly. It must be difficult for us. We have to see.

“What can I say? We fixed it and faced it again in the last game,” said Bale who is also a striker of Los Angeles FC.-AGENCIES
