Arul wants the Malaysian Tigers attack machine to be sharper

PETALING JAYA: The national hockey squad needs to quickly sharpen its attack pattern if it wants to advance further ahead of the Nations Cup Tournament in Potchefsroom, South Africa which will open next Monday.

That was the call of the country’s head hockey coach, Arul Selvaraj after his men were only tied 1-1 by South Africa in a friendly action that took place in North West, Potchefstroom a while ago.

The national team’s goal was scored through a penalty corner shot by Azrai Aizad Abu Kamal in the 45th minute.

“For this tournament, I hope there will be drastic changes in terms of defense, passing and finishing in front of the opponent’s goal. That’s all our main focus,” explained Arul.

Malaysia will start the Nations Cup campaign in group B with South Korea, Japan and Canada.

Meanwhile, group A saw the competition between Pakistan, France, Ireland and Pakistan.

The champion of the tournament will receive an automatic ticket to play in the FIH Pro League in the 2023-2024 season. – ONLINE MESSENGER
