PUTRAJAYA: Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir informed that the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will pay an official visit to Indonesia.
The matter was confirmed by himself when he paid a courtesy visit for the first time to the President of the Republic, Joko Widodo at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta today.
However, through a message on the official social page of Wisma Putra, the exact date of the visit has not been finalized but will be made soon.
“During the visit to the leader, the Foreign Minister presented the proposal for the Prime Minister’s official visit to Jakarta and planned in the near future,” he said.
This is Zambry’s first visit after being appointed as the minister on December 3, with a very busy schedule starting yesterday and ending today.
Commenting further, Wisma Putra said that Zambry’s meeting with Joko or also affectionately known as Jokowi, also discussed various bilateral issues of interest.
“Among them are maritime and land borders, economic cooperation including investment in the new capital of Indonesia, the archipelago and the domestic maid issue,” he said.
They both also touched on regional and global issues, especially the current situation in Myanmar and the threat of restrictions on palm oil from both countries in the Western market.
Zambry also took the opportunity to congratulate and wish Jokowi the best of luck who will be the new ASEAN Chairman for the whole of 2023.
