Anwar fulfills the promise of salary cuts, allowances

KAJANG: Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim fulfilled his promise to cut salaries and allowances as Prime Minister.

He did not explain how long the cut would take effect.

“I have announced that the first step is to restore the confidence of the people so that they do not look at the state regardless of religion or thinking about salary, so I chose to reject the Prime Minister’s salary,” he said in his first press conference after being appointed as the 10th Prime Minister at Sungai Long Golf & Country Club here today.

In the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Convention in Perak on October 20, Anwar announced to cut his salary and allowance as Prime Minister if the coalition in question leads the government after the 15th General Election (GE15).

In fact, the Chairman of Pakatan Harapan (PH) assured that the same measures will also be implemented among ministers and deputy ministers.

He said that the matter will be done because he understands the pain and suffering of the people who have to continue living in an uncertain economic situation. – MESSENGER
