Andika wants to raise the name of nasyid

Who would have thought that it started with a nasyid competition at school, eventually paving the way for these four boys to establish the Andika group.

Established in February last year, the group lined up Muhammad Amal Roszaimi, 24, Imtiaz Saudi, 25, Muinuddin Mazlan, 20, and Muhammad Raziq Mohd. Sabri, 24, released a single called Kembali.

According to Amal, they got an offer from a recording company, Rusa Music to establish a nasyid group as a cover for the music industry.

“We were originally rivals since school days, except for Muinuddin who is my junior. When I got the offer, I invited other friends to join this group.

“Alhamdulillah, we already have one single and will appear with some other products later,” he said.

Clearly Amar, Come back is a complete creation of Saujana’s vocalist, Suffian Amrin and the song was once contested during the 2019 National School Nasyid Festival.

“The song was reworked in a new version and coincidentally, it was introduced during Ramadan.

“It tells about the repentance of a servant to the Almighty. Through this song as well, we collaborated with the singer, Azzam Shah,” he said.

SUCCESSFUL OPTIMISTS

Commenting on the selection of Andika as a stage name, Amal said that the name was chosen by Suffian as their mentor in the field of singing.

He said, the name that sounds very unique is a classic Malay phrase that means noble.

Although it’s still a corn year in the music industry, each member of the group is optimistic about success and not just warm chicken poop.

Even though they haven’t dared to give a full-time commitment as singers because they are still studying and have other jobs, each member of Andika remains steadfast in their struggle.

The proof is that Raziq is still studying at the Faculty of Music, National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (Aswara), thus being able to teach other members.

“All Andika members have a high interest in singing. We have the same mission which is to raise and revive the nasyid industry.

“We are still learning to produce our own songs and try to maintain the nasyid identity, even though the music industry is facing various changes.

“Andika’s goal is to produce songs that highlight our fresh ideas,” he explained.
