LIPIS: An Orang Asli teenager’s desire to find durian ended in tragedy after he was killed by a wild elephant in an incident in Kampung Tual, Pos Sinderut here.
The victim who died in the incident at about 4pm today was Andy Yok Manin, 15.
District Police Chief, Superintendent Azli Mohd. Noor said that his party received information at 4.30pm from the Tok Batin of Kampung Tual stating that a man had died in the village due to an elephant attack.
“The victim was attacked by an elephant while with his family members in the durian orchard area in Kampung Tual.
“The wild elephant attack is believed to have started from Kampung Regang which caused the animals to be chased away by the villagers,” he said in a statement here today.
According to Azli, the wild elephant then ran towards the Kampung Tual durian orchard area where the victim was.
He said that after the attack, the victim’s family took him home before he was pronounced dead.
He said, members of the Sungai Koyan police station took the victim to the forensic unit of Kuala Lipis Hospital for the autopsy process. – MESSENGER
