Ahmad Zahid’s motion to withdraw: BN urges components to respect party solidarity

KUALA LUMPUR: Any suggestions and motions presented at the meeting stage will be fully finalized in the Barisan Nasional (BN) Supreme Council meeting in accordance with party rules and constitution.

BN Secretary General, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said, this is because BN adheres to the principle of mutual respect in dealing with any issue faced.

Therefore, he said, manners in stating and issuing any statement should be maintained as best as possible so as not to cause misunderstanding.

“This includes matters discussed in the BN Supreme Council meeting,” he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, several BN component leaders urged BN Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to step down following a letter that went viral yesterday.

It involved a letter sent to the Istana Negara and signed by Ahmad Zahid purportedly claiming that 30 BN MPs supported Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the 10th Prime Minister.

BN component leaders are also accused of submitting a motion of no confidence to Ahmad Zahid for his actions of turning his back on BN’s decision.

Earlier, Zambry said, the BN Headquarters was aware of several media statements issued by BN component parties which went viral in the mass media in the country.

“The head office advises all parties to continue to preserve the solidarity and spirit of consensus that has long been built within BN to ensure well-being and harmony as well as tolerance among BN’s member parties and affiliated parties,” he said. – MESSENGER
