KLANG: A family of five faced an anxious moment when the Proton Prima car they were riding in was hit by a Toyota Hilux four-wheel drive near the traffic light intersection at Jalan Raja Muda Musa, here today.
The victim consists of Mohd. Affendy Abd. Aziz, 59; Jaaria Abdul Rajak, 50; Arisha Mohd. Affendy, 26; Adreen Mohd. Affendy, 28 and Adam Mohd. Affendy, 22, is said to be on his way home from attending a wedding not far from the scene of the incident.
According to the Director of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Datuk Norazam Khamis, he received a call at 3.09pm before deploying six teams from the Port Klang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP).
“The car carrying a family of five collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle at a traffic light intersection near the Pandamaran Sports Complex.
“According to several witnesses at the scene, the Toyota Hilux from the direction of Port Klang to the city of Klang was speeding when it was at the intersection believed to be chasing a green light.
“However, such an action caused the Proton Prima to collide with a Toyota Hilux, at which time the traffic light near their path turned green,” he said when contacted.
He explained that following the incident, two victims in the back seat were stuck and had to be removed using special equipment while the other three managed to get out of the car on their own after the incident.
“Four victims suffered minor injuries except for Jaaria who broke his left leg. All the victims were then taken to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) for treatment.
However, Norazam added that the driver of the Toyota Hilux was not seen after the tragedy. – MESSENGER
