30 BN members of Parliament should support PN – Pintar

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 30 Barisan Nasional (BN) members of Parliament have been asked to support Perikatan Nasional (PN) as the best option to jointly form a government based on the results of the 15th General Election (GE15).

President of the National Intellectual Organization (Smart), Professor Dr. Mohd. Roslan Mohd. Nor said that the move was to respect the greatest mandate of the people who want to see a stable government to fight for the rights of the Malay-Muslim majority group, but at the same time also uplift the rights of other races in this country.

He said, it is also to praise the willingness of Sabah and Sarawak parties through Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) who have already given support to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to form a government together.

At the same time, he urged the UMNO members of parliament, 26 of the 30 BN members of parliament, to be consistent with the decision of the UMNO General Assembly which rejected DAP and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Taking a neutral attitude at this critical time is giving face to both and is an irresponsible attitude towards the country.

“Therefore, Pintar urged the 26 members of the UMNO House of Representatives to give solid support to Muhyiddin as the 10th Prime Minister and to work together with the PN to form a stable and strong government,” he said in a statement today.

Mohd. Roslan said that choosing to be neutral is actually not an option for now because the people and the country need a government to be formed immediately to smooth the administration and the affairs that need to be done.

“We don’t want to see Malay party leaders continue to act quiet, sullen, unwilling to cooperate and so on.

“Enough with what happened after the 14th general election that caused the people to rise up to defend their rights that were tried to be torn away when there were leaders who were scratching their heads,” he said.

Commenting further, Mohd Roslan said, if these leaders still take a neutral attitude, then the concern expressed by Tun Abdul Hamid Mohamad will become a reality where UMNO leaders are seen to no longer care about the interests of the Malays.

On the other hand, they only think about their own narrow political interests when, by looking after the interests of the Malays, this is the key to the country’s stability since independence.

Earlier, in a statement at the Istana Negara by Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Diraja, Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin stated, all 30 members of Parliament from BN will be summoned to face the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah individually, tomorrow

The purpose of this process is for His Majesty to be able to make a decision to appoint a Member of the Dewan Rakyat who, in His Majesty’s opinion, may gain the trust of the majority of Members of the Dewan Rakyat as Prime Minister in accordance with the provisions under Article 43(2)(a) of the Federal Constitution. – MESSENGER
