LAMPUNG: Two female teachers in East Lampung were arrested by the police after they stole the ATM cards of their colleagues at school and robbed the victim’s savings amounting to 50 million rupiah (RM14,085).
East Lampung District Police Chief, Zaky Alkazar Nasution confirmed that the two suspects work as teachers in Ratna Daya Village, North Raman District.
“Both suspects stole money belonging to the victim who is actually still their colleague at the same school,” said Zaky who was contacted from Bandar Lampung.
Based on preliminary examination, the shameful act started when the two suspects stole the victim’s ATM card in the teacher’s room in December 2022.
The victim only realized that his ATM card and pin number record paper were missing when he wanted to withdraw money and after reporting to the bank, it was found that his savings were missing.
“The suspect stole the ATM card from the victim’s wallet. In addition, the suspect also knew the victim wrote the ATM card pin number on a piece of paper and they also took the paper.
“After that, they withdrew all the victim’s savings through a cash machine at a bank branch in Kampung Kedaton in Batanghari Nuban District,” explained Zaky.
The two suspects were successfully arrested early yesterday morning and will face a maximum prison sentence of seven years.
